02. REASON FOR SALE

Due to the lack of interest of our family wanting to carry on the business and the founders are retiring, we have decided to sell one of Asia biggest Ornamental Fish (Marine and Fresh) Import and Export Business. This is near to 50 years old business, with a wide network of distribution to distributors, wholesalers and retailers from more than 40 different countries with weekly international exports and also local distribution, with a monthly sales of SGD$ 700,000.00 to SGD$ 900,000.00

Our custom built SGD 4.5 million infrastructure has more than 6000 glass tanks, comprising of different systems that can be customized to any different biotypes, ensuring a stressfree environment for any ornamental tropical fishes. A small dynamic team of no more than 50 people ensures our company operating with minimum overhead and a maximum profit-making business model. On site, is also a team of dedicated staff in the quarantine and export department, making sure our export fishes are of the highest quality.

The purchase of the business will include our existing stock worth SGD$ 150,000.00, our custom built facility (with a foundation that can be expanded to 2 stories) spread over a 102,000 sq ft with a built-up area of approximately 60,000 sq ft, all import and export licenses, online retail licenses, a floating AR of SGD$ 600,000.00

The rental land belongs to SLA and an option to renew it for another 10 years is available due in 3 years. The takeover fees include rental for another 3 years as well.

03. OVERVIEW OF THE ORNAMENTAL FISH IMPORT AND EXPORT BUSINESS IN SINGAPORE

The ornamental fish sector is a widespread and global component of international trade, fisheries, aquaculture, and development. Statistics reported to FAO from member States indicate that the world export value in 1998 of ornamental fish was US$174 million, with imports valued at US$257 million.

Since 1985 the value of international trade in exports of ornamentals has increased at an average growth rate of approximately 14% per year. Developing countries account for about two-thirds of the total export value. The entire industry, when the non-exported product, wages, retail sales, and associated materials are considered, has been estimated to be worth around US$15 billion.
